The St Andrew’s Thoracic Oncology Multi-Disciplinary team met for the final time on December 7th at the Regatta Hotel.
Dr Art Kaminski presented a review of the evolving role of stereotactic radiotherapy in a number of lung cancer settings;
The established practice of treating peripheral tumours, further supported by the presentation of the Australasian CHISEL trial results at the 2017 World Lung Cancer Congress held in Osaka, Japan
Central tumours treated according to the Bezjak or Haasbeek protocols as reached by consensus at the 2017 Annual Genesis Scientific Meeting held in Sydney
Oligometastatic disease (with up to three lesions) as treated in the SAFRON trials and upcoming CORE study
Dominant lesions treated with SABR in the setting of widely metastatic disease as part of the NIVORAD trial
The group is looking forward to utilising the expanded stereotactic programme in the new year.
